Sex Therapy at The LoveLife Clinic

At the LoveLife Clinic — Sydney’s leading centre for Relational Sexology, an approach that integrates sex therapy and relationship counselling — we help individuals and couples create relationships that feel alive, loving, and deeply connected.

We believe intimacy is not a problem to fix but a skill to learn — one that few of us ever receive training in. Our integrative approach to sex therapy blends the best of psychotherapy, neuroscience, coaching, and mindful awareness to help you grow into the relationship and sex life you truly want.

Founded by Jacqueline Hellyer, the Clinic brings together more than two decades of expertise in the art and science of sex, love and intimacy. Alongside Jacqueline, our trusted associates Alain Moulay and Leslie Scholl offer professional, compassionate support that is as empowering as it is healing.

This is not therapy that feels heavy or clinical. It’s positive, collaborative, and full of hope — a journey of discovery guided by experts who believe in your potential. Whether through counselling, retreats, or online programs, we’re here as your cheerleaders and guides, helping you reconnect with yourself, your partner, and life itself.

Sex Therapy for Couples and Individuals

Sexuality is a fundamental part of being human, and its healthy, authentic expression is essential for happiness and well-being. Yet few of us ever receive the education or support to navigate it well.

At the LoveLife Clinic, we offer a uniquely integrative approach to sex therapy — combining science, psychology, and embodied awareness with warmth, humour, and compassion. Our sex therapy sessions are held in person in Sydney or online.

Whether you’re addressing desire, arousal, or sexual function, or simply wanting to reconnect with pleasure, confidence, and erotic aliveness, we provide a safe and encouraging space for growth. Our aim is not just healing but empowerment — helping you understand yourself more deeply and move toward a more fulfilling, joyful sexual self.

Here are some of the sex therapy areas we support at the LoveLife Clinic — from specific sexual difficulties to broader explorations of confidence, pleasure, and connection. Whatever you’re facing, we bring warmth, skill, and positivity to help you move toward healing and erotic aliveness.

Our Therapeutic Toolbox

All the therapists at LoveLife Clinic are highly trained in a variety of therapeutic, counselling and coaching approaches. We each bring a diverse set of tools to our practice, tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. Explore some of the tools we use below. Click on each one to learn more.

Psychosexual therapy is a professional and ethical treatment approach to issues around sexuality. It is a talk-based therapy, there is no touch, using specialised clinical skills to help you as individuals and/or as a couple to deal more effectively with your sexual expression.

PACT uses neuroscience and attachment theory to improve interactions between couples, helping you notice your reactions as they occur and learn how to better address one another's attachment needs. It helps couples form more secure attachments and deepen your existing attachments by developing secure-functioning relationships based on mutuality, sensitivity, collaboration, and fairness.

Unlike most forms of psychotherapy that concentrate on improving mental health alone, transpersonal therapy addresses mental, physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual needs, with an emphasis on the role of a healthy spirit in healing. It integrates spiritual traditions into modern psychology, emphasizing positive influences rather than concentrating on negative experiences. The holistic treatment is based on the idea that humans are more than just our mind and body, but are also composed of intangible, or transcendent, factors that make up the whole person.

Depth psychology draws on insights from mythology, religion, alchemy, philosophy, literature, and the arts to study the nature of the unconscious. going beyond behavioural and cognitive processes to the unconscious motivating factors beneath them. We use dreams, images, symbols, synchronicities, associations, and slips of the tongue to better understand the dynamics of the unconscious. It takes you to a deeper understanding of yourself.

CBT helps you to become aware of thought distortions and behavioural patterns that cause you psychological distress, and to correct them. As therapists we attempt to understand experiences from your point of view, and we work together to explore your thoughts, assumptions and inferences, and to test these by checking them against reality and against other assumptions.

Client-centred therapy emphasises understanding and caring rather than diagnosis, advice, and persuasion. As therapists we are genuine, accepting, and empathic, demonstrating a deep understanding of our client's thoughts, ideas, experiences, and feelings. Solution-Focused Therapy concentrates on finding solutions in the present and exploring one’s hope for the future in order to find a quick and pragmatic resolution of one’s problems. This method takes the approach that you know what you need to do to improve your own life and, with the appropriate coaching and questioning, are capable of finding the best solutions.

Mindfulness and embodiment approaches helps you to become mindful and aware in life. It allows you to have a different, easier relationship with problematical thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations. This results in an increased sense of well being, more control over your own mind, and more resources for important activities. Often difficulties can disappear altogether.

Life coaching is the process of helping someone find the path between where they are now and where they want to be. It can be as broad as wanting to find what will make you happier or as specific as wanting to start a new job. It centres around the belief that everyone can achieve their goals through acknowledging and using their own resources, rather than being told what to do.

EFT for couples helps you to understand and express your emotional experience, including your feelings, thoughts, and behaviours, so you can learn how your internal world affects your experience of each other and situations. It is based on attachment theory and allows couples to gain better personal awareness, a healthier relational dynamic and facilitates healing and growth.

Schemas are protective mechanisms we develop as children that can play out in maladaptive ways as adults and in relationships. Parts are those parts of ourselves that were laid down earlier life that also had a protective function which can be playing out in current life in unhelpful ways. Working with your schemas and parts can help you understand your inner world and integrate and healit for a greater sense of wholeness and aliveness, both for yourself personally and in your relationships.
